While the rest of us are spending millions on keratin treatments, turbo-powered flat irons, silicone drops, and all manner of defrizzing gel, model Agyness Deyn has craftily one-upped us all with the ultimate guaranteed-good-hair-day summer cut. She just shaved it all off.

The initial buzzing happened this past April, after a spell spent with a mussed, inky black Billie Joe Armstrong–ish crop that hung punkily in her eyes. “You can hide behind hair and I felt I’d had enough,” says Deyn. Of her new low-to-no-maintenance cut, she says, “It’s fun and easy, and I wanted something new.” Plus, she was headed to the Coachella music festival in the Southern Californian desert, where temperatures can soar into the triple digits. So she went to Freemans’ F.S.C. Barber — the old-school men’s barber/haberdasher stylishly tucked away in an alley on the Lower East Side—and pulled up a chair. “They were like, ‘Agyness, we only do guys’ cuts,’ ” she remembers. “I said, ‘That’s alright. I just want it all off.’ ” Since then, she’s dropped in to the men-centric salon Tommy Guns for a trim, too, and has taken a razor into her own hands, as well.

bridesmaids

Behind every bride is a bevy of bridesmaids—sisters, cousins, best friends, college roommates—at the ready to regulate an unwieldy veil, blot renegade lipstick, and keep tissues tucked away for a chance of tears. If anyone deserves a gift of thanks before the big day, it’s certainly them. Here, Vogue’s favorites this summer:

Created exclusively for Vogue is Bliss’s newly revamped Wedding Belles package: the spa’s signature Triple Oxygen facial for glowing skin, followed by the all-important manicure and pedicure. $204; blissworld.com.

Designed to match any dress, nail genius Essie’s Wedding Collection: six perfect polishes, from soft pinks to flattering neutrals. $48; essie.com.

For discreet touch-ups, a classic—and refillable—powder compact is an elegant and practical gift. Estée Lauder’s classic gilded compacts and Guerlain’s Deco-ish Météorites are the perfect size for any evening bag. They’re so chic, we bet they will make an appearance even without a makeup meltdown. For a more personal touch, be sure to request monogram engraving, available at select Lauder counters.

L’Oréal’s

The name is a mouthful, but after a few days of using L’Oréal’s new Sublime Bronze ProPerfect Salon Airbrush Self-Tanning Mist, you’ll be hanging on every word.

I must admit that self-tanner is one beauty arena I’ve been hesitant to explore, let alone fully embrace. Despite its obvious health merits, my few experiments with it have always left a bad taste in my mouth. The stickiness and stinkiness have simply never seemed worth the fleeting results. And let’s not even get into the panic that sets in while trying to achieve an even application.

So, during a Vogue accessories shoot, I was pleasantly surprised to hear from none other than L’Oréal ambassador Doutzen Kroes that she swears by their Sublime Bronze range. Fast-forward to a CVS store later that weekend, and Doutzen’s sun-kissed likeness staring at me from an in-store billboard. How could I resist that kind of endorsement? The blow-horn-like nozzle of the ProPerfect Airbrush bottle seemed terrifyingly intense, but convincingly innovative.
